Sasq-Watch is a 2017 movie starring Paul Brittain, Adam Herschman, Christine Bentley, Tim Meadows, and Neil Flynn. Brothers Nigel (Paul Brittain) and Oscar (Adam Herschman) are determined to prove that Sasquatch exists and have just gotten funding for an expedition. When their tour guide drops out, they must find help elsewhere in order to find evidence of Bigfoot's existence before their rival (Tim Meadows) and win a $500,000 prize from the Damien Hogel Foundation.
I came across Sasq-Watch at the library a few days ago and decided to check it out because I'm a fan of Tim Meadows and Neil Flynn. I haven't see many Bigfoot movies, but I enjoyed this one, so I'm glad I watched it. The movie was entertaining and made me laugh, and all the performances were great. If you like movies about Bigfoot or mockumentaries, check out Sasq-Watch! : )

September: The Month of Bigfoot
I've never thought of September as Bigfoot Month, but according to Haunt Jaunts' calendar of paranormal/horror festivals, there are three Bigfoot festivals this month, so I guess September is the month to celebrate Bigfoot. First up is the International Bigfoot Conference in Kennewick, Washington, which takes place September 2nd-4th.
http://www.internationalbigfootconference.com/
That same weekend (on the 3rd), there's also the Bigfoot Celebration in Willow Creek, California.

Minerva, Ohio's Minerva Monster Day takes place on September 23rd and 24th and will focus on Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the Minerva Monster, and the Beast of Whitehall.

Check out Haunt Jaunts for a list of all of the fun paranormal and horror festivals going on all year. : )

Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum
I just found out about a cool museum in North Carolina...it's in Littleton, which is a 5 1/2 hour drive from where I live, so I probably won't get to go, but I thought some of you guys might be interested. It's called the Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum, and according to the museum's website, it's "dedicated to the study and display of creatures and phenomena not recognized by traditional science," such as Bigfoot, ghosts, cryptids, river monsters, and UFOs. Sounds like my kind of museum! : )
If you'd like to visit the Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum, you can find all the info you need on their website:

Paranormal Jokes and Haiku now available!
I just published my fourth book, Paranormal Jokes and Haiku, and it's available for Kindle (if you don't have a Kindle, you can download a Kindle app and read it on other devices).
http://www.amazon.com/Paranormal-Jokes-Haiku-Crystal-Smith-Connelly-ebook/dp/B00U1SPTZM/
Paranormal Jokes and Haiku explores the lighter side of the paranormal...you won't get scared reading these poems and corny jokes about ghosts, aliens, Bigfoot, and other creatures of the unknown! The book contains 49 haiku and 26 groan-inducing jokes from paranormal blogger Crystal Smith-Connelly (of the blog Why would you want to be normal when you could be paranormal?).
Why do they call him
Bigfoot? Are they trying to
Make him self-conscious?
What is a ghost's favorite instrument?

AtomaCon Panel: Bigfoot Hunting
On Saturday, November 15th, I attended the Bigfoot Hunting panel at AtomaCon in North Charleston, SC. It was led by Cheralyn Lambeth and M. Doc Geressy (who are both members of the Carolina Ghostbusters), and it was a fun and entertaining discussion. Doc stated that just because we haven't found something doesn't mean it's not there and that if Bigfoot doesn't want to be found, it wouldn't be that hard for him to evade everyone. Cheralyn pointed out that every major civilization has stories about a Bigfoot-like creature. They talked about the famous 1964 Bigfoot documentary made by David Patterson, and Cheralyn said that a line going down the back of Bigfoot looks like it could be a zipper and that it wouldn't be that difficult to make a fake Bigfoot film. As for why someone would fake it, she said that professional filmmakers do things all the time to amuse themselves, such as giving Bigfoot breasts in the Patterson film. Doc said that if the film was a hoax, it was a very good one and wondered why, if it's easy to fake, more people don't make Bigfoot films? He also noted that generally the people who have claimed to see Bigfoot don't seem like intelligent or credible people and that if someone like Bill Nye claimed to have seen him, then people would probably believe in Bigfoot. Cheralyn said that you can't prove that something doesn't exist, and I'd never thought of it that way, but it's so true...you can prove that most things do exist, but if no one has proven the existence of something like Bigfoot, it might just mean we haven't found it yet. And, really, don't we all secretly hope that Bigfoot exists?
I really enjoyed this panel, and I thought about Bigfoot more than I ever have in my entire life. I even ended up writing about Bigfoot later that night...I've had a lot of fun writing paranormal jokes and haiku for this blog (which are all going into a book I'm publishing next year), so here's a haiku I wrote after the Bigfoot panel:
Also, if you're interested in Bigfoot, check out Graham Roumieu's Bigfoot books (Me Write Book and I Not Dead)...they're hilarious!

Bigfoot, how we wish
You’d reveal your
existence,
But we understand
Why you stay hidden.
Steer clear of rednecks
with guns,
Or you might become
A Bigfoot-skin rug
Or head mounted on a
wall.
Stay safe, furry one. Also, if you're interested in Bigfoot, check out Graham Roumieu's Bigfoot books (Me Write Book and I Not Dead)...they're hilarious!

Mark your calendars for AtomaCon!
AtomaCon (All Types of Media Arts Convention) is a fairly new convention, and it takes place November 14th-16th at the Charleston Plaza Hotel (4770 Goer Drive) in North Charleston, SC. Last year I didn't find out about Atomacon until two days before it began, so I only went the last day and attended the Ghost Hunting Tech panel (http://paranormalcrystal.blogspot.com/2013/11/so-you-want-to-be-ghost-hunter.html). This year I'm prepared...I bought my three-day pass back in December and am planning on attending a bunch of panels and writing about them for the blog. I'm especially excited about the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Meetup...I'm dressing up as a Ghostbuster for Halloween, so this will give me another excuse to wear my costume! If you're a fan of Star Wars, Dr. Who, Sherlock, The Walking Dead, Godzilla, Lost, or Star Trek, or if you'd like to learn more about ghost hunting, Charleston's haunted history, cosplay, building props, designing video games, or searching for Bigfoot, there's something at AtomaCon for you! Check out the AtomaCon website for more information:

Book Spotlight: The Bigfoot books by Graham Roumieu
If you're in the mood for some paranormal humor, check out Graham Roumieu's Me Write Book: It Bigfoot Memoir and Bigfoot: I Not Dead. These books are hilarious, and they're quick reads because there are lots of illustrations (which are also the work of Roumieu). I laughed out loud many times while reading these books, and I enjoyed reading something from Bigfoot's point of view. Bigfoot is misunderstood, smelly, and a better writer than you'd think. He's also friends with the Loch Ness Monster, who wrote the introduction to Me Write Book, and is an aspiring stand-up comedian...I don't know about you, but if I saw that Bigfoot was coming to a comedy club near me, I would buy tickets immediately. ; )

Cool Website of the Week: Area51.org
I recently discovered a website that is advertised as "the secret headquarters for paranormal reports," and I just had to share it...you can find it at Area51.com, and it's full of up-to-date paranormal news stories and links to stories on other websites about UFOs, ghosts, Bigfoot, and other interesting things. I could spend hours reading all the articles this website links to, so if you check it out, make sure you have a lot of time to spare...I wouldn't want you to be late for work!

Cool Website of the Week: Paranormal Soup
This week's cool website is paranormalsoup.com, a community where people can discuss the paranormal. The website includes forums to discuss haunted places, UFOs, Bigfoot, paranormal news, and lots of other paranormal phenomena, and you can even post your own EVP recordings, as well as photos and videos of ghosts. Also, if you've been experiencing paranormal activity in your home, you can ask for help in the "Need help with a haunting?" forum...there are some pretty creepy stories in that forum!
