Hollywood Ghost Stories and Urban Legends

I recently came across an article called "17 Creepy Hollywood Ghost Stories and Urban Legends" on Ranker, so I thought I'd share it here. The list includes the Black Dahlia, James Dean's cursed car, the ghosts that haunt the Queen Mary and the Hollywood sign, and many other interesting stories, so check it out if you're into that sort of thing (and if you're reading this blog, I'm guessing you are). : )

Movie Spotlight: Arrival

Arrival is a 2016 movie starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, Tzi Ma, and Mark O'Brien. When a dozen spacecrafts appear around the world, a linguistics professor (Amy Adams), an Army Colonel (Forest Whitaker), and a physicist (Jeremy Renner) team up to decipher the language of the extraterrestrials in order to find out what they want.

I usually don't enjoy Oscar-nominated movies (I'm more into comedies and horror movies), but Arrival is an exception, and it deserves all the critical acclaim it has received. The performances were excellent, and the aliens were some of the most realistic-looking aliens I've ever seen in a movie. If you're looking for a typical alien invasion movie (aliens being jerks and destroying everything), you might want to skip Arrival, but if you want to see a captivating, visually stunning sci-fi movie, Arrival is a great choice.

The Fearless Ghosthunter: Courtney Mroch

I've shared content from Haunt Jaunts many times on this blog, and recently Courtney Mroch, creator of the paranormal travel website and all-around cool person, was a guest on a paranormal radio show show called The Fearless Ghosthunter. Her conversation with host Scott Morrow was pretty interesting, so I thought I'd share it. : ) You can stream or download the show here:

Backpackerverse published a list called "10 Infamously Haunted Dolls That Will Murder You," and of course I had to share it here. You probably already know about Annabelle and Robert, but if you'd like to find out about eight other creepy dolls, check out this article. : )

Movie Spotlight: The Disappointments Room

The Disappointments Room is a 2016 movie starring Kate Beckinsale, Mel Raido, Gerald McRaney, Lucas Till, Duncan Joiner, Michael Landes, and Ella Jones. After the death of their daughter, Dana (Kate Beckinsale) and David (Mel Raido) move into a new house with their young son (Duncan Joiner). When Dana finds a hidden room in the attic, she unknowingly unleashes evil spirits, and all hell breaks loose. (This is why I stay out of the attic.)

The Disappointments Room is a decent movie, but I had a hard time staying interested in it. All of the actors were great though, and that's often not the case when it comes to horror movies. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either.

My rating: 5/10

The Town That Banned UFOs

Lucien Jeune, the mayor of a French town called Châteauneuf-du-Pape, banned UFOs from landing, flying over, or taking off in his town sixty-two years ago, and current mayor Claude Avril sees no reason to overturn the law. In the six decades the ban has been in effect, no flying saucers have been taken into custody, so the ban must be working. 😉👽
