Movie Spotlight: Cult of Chucky

Cult of Chucky is a 2017 movie starring Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, and Jennifer Tilly. It's the seventh movie starring everyone's favorite killer doll, and it takes place four years after Curse of Chucky. Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) has been in a mental institution ever since Chucky (the voice of Brad Dourif) framed her for the murders of five people (including her mother and sister). She believes that she may have committed these murders, but when people start dying after she comes into possession of a Good Guy doll that belonged to her niece, Nica isn't so sure anymore. Chucky's old friend/current nemesis Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) comes to the rescue, but does he have what it takes to defeat Chucky and his deranged girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly)?

I enjoyed Cult of Chucky more than some of the other movies in the Child's Play franchise, and it gets bonus points for the creative death scenes (who doesn't love a good decapitation?) and multiple Chuckys. Brad and Fiona Dourif play off of each other very well, and there's just something heartwarming about a father voicing the murderous doll who's terrorizing his daughter. ; ) If you're a fan of the Child's Play series or just like fun, entertaining horror movies, check out Cult of Chucky!

Haunted Dolls

Backpackerverse published a list called "10 Infamously Haunted Dolls That Will Murder You," and of course I had to share it here. You probably already know about Annabelle and Robert, but if you'd like to find out about eight other creepy dolls, check out this article. : )

Movie Spotlight: The Boy

The Boy is a 2016 movie starring Lauren Cohan, Rupert Evans, Jim Norton, Diana Hardcastle, Ben Robson, Jett Klyne, James Russell, and Lily Pater. Greta (Lauren Cohan) agrees to be a nanny for a family in England and learns that the 8-year-old boy she is supposed to take care of is actually a life-sized doll (easiest job ever!). After she breaks a few of the family's rules, odd things start happening, and Greta wonders if "The Boy" is more than just a doll.

If the people I worked for introduced me to their "son," and he was obviously a doll that they wanted me to treat like a real person, that would be my cue to leave, but that would be a really short movie, so of course that's not what happened in The Boy. Despite the fact that the way the characters treat the doll is pretty ridiculous, I enjoyed the movie and thought that Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans gave great performances. I wouldn't say the movie was scary, but it was creepy, and if there's a sequel, I'll definitely watch it. : )
