Is the Hollywood Historic Hotel haunted?

I'm taking a trip to Los Angeles in April to see a performance of one of my plays, and my husband and I will be staying at the Hollywood Historic Hotel.  The hotel, built in 1927, was formerly the Hollywood Melrose Hotel, and according to some of the reviews I read, it's haunted (a fact I didn't know until after I booked it).  Trip Advisor reviewer Aliceinhaw says that when she stayed at the Hollywood Historic Hotel, she saw "weird shadows" and "felt like something was watching [her]."  On Yelp, Jason B. wrote that "there is no doubt in [his] mind that this hotel is haunted" because he heard a lot of banging around and screaming in the room above him and heard a woman being thrown out of the window...but when he looked outside, there was no one on the ground.  A few other Yelp reviewers mentioned that they got a creepy feeling when they walked in the building.  Compared to some other hauntings I've heard about, this doesn't sound too bad...if I experience any paranormal activity while I'm there, I'll tell you guys all about it!

    1. I'll be there next Wednesday and am leaving the following Monday, but we'll be so busy that we're only going to be at the hotel when it's time to sleep. If I had more time, I'd definitely want to talk to you and interview you for the blog...if you ever want to write about your experiences, I'd love to have you as a guest blogger though. : )

    2. My fiance and I are currently staying at the hotel. I Googled the topic "Hollywood historic hotel hainting" And stumbled upon this site. This is my experiemce thus far. First walking in I noticed its character. I have an adoration for historic buildings and felt impressed with the hotel's historic feel with just enough modernization to fulfill expectations of anticipated daily comforts. The rooms are much smaller than todays standard hotel but encompass a cozy atmosphere. Im enjoying observing the details of its construction/decor. Our first night we went to sleep about 2am. Jet legged it took us a while to wind down but we needed to have an early start the next day so we set the alarm for 8am. I awoke at 630am and nudged my fiance awake. we discussed our daily plan while lounging in bed. Around 645 white noise came across the clock radio. The crackling sound of an in between radio station. The sound continued intermittently for approximately 1 min. My fiance and I looked at each other and said that's weird, and shrugged it off. Since we woke early, the set alarm was forgotten. but sure enough it went off at 8am. That was when it had occurred to me that the white noise we had heard earlier, came through... even though the radio didn't turn on, nor did we mistankly set the alarm to the incorrect time. Once I realized this I was puzzled, and more curious of the possibility of paranormal activity. Another incident occured later in early evening. After a long morning we returned to our room, cracked the window to enjoy a breeze and fell asleep. When we woke up the window was shut. Day 2, The crackling of the radio has come and gone a few more times. Aside from the window we haven't had any other significant experiences. If there is paranormal activity, it is subtle and intriguing more than eerie.

    3. Well, if it is paranormal activity, I'm glad it's nothing too scary or disruptive...that wouldn't be a fun way to spend your vacation. Thanks for sharing! : )

  3. I don't think it's haunted. This is our third night here and we have not experienced anything strange or out of the ordinary. It's just an old dated hotel, but the beds are comfy and its in a great location

    1. I didn't experience anything paranormal while I was there, but I didn't spend much time at the hotel since there's so much to do in L.A. I did like the hotel though and loved the location, so I'll definitely consider staying there again when I go back to L.A. in a few months. : )

  5. I stayed there with my ex back in 2014. It was a cute little hotel. I definitely did NOT notice anything paranormal. But then again, we were out an about throughout the day, and by the time we got back to sleep we were super tired and a bit tipsy. So we probably slept through it all
